This exhibition illustrated the slave activities which took place since the beginning of the first settlement in Seychelles in 1770. A chart is being used to show where they came from Madagascar, Mozambique and Central Africa.
In this exhibition, you will find the “Code Noire” (Laws of Slave). The kind of treatment they received when they committed offences, like revolting against their masters or what happened to fugitive slave that were captured. The “Pompe” case is probably the most notable one.
You will also discover the kind of economic activities the slaves were involved in and some of our traditional musical instruments introduced by the slave.
