Sir Malcolm Stevenson, KCMG (1927)


Sir Malcolm Stevenson KCMG was born in 1878, at Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Married to Mabel, the daughter of 1st Baron Chalmers, in 1914. They had a son and a daughter. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Sir Malcolm entered Ceylon Civil Service in 1901. He was a private secretary to Governor in 1913, Chief Secretary of Cyprus in 1917, High Commissioner and Governor of Cyprus 1920-26. Sir Malcolm was appointed Governor of Seychelles in 1927. Arrived in the colony on the 13th August 1927, a sick man and for two days was confined to bed. He died while still Governor of Seychelles in 27th November 1927 at the age of 49.
